Softscape (“the app”, “we”) is a task manager and calendar for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, built on your Reminders and Calendar. The short version: Softscape does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. Your tasks and events stay in Apple’s Reminders and Calendar, and Softscape’s own notes about them stay in your private iCloud.
Data we collect
None. Softscape has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no account of its own, and no third-party SDKs that gather data. We operate no servers that receive your information, and we have no access to your tasks, events, notes, location, or anything else you enter into the app.
Where your data lives
- In Reminders and Calendar. Every task in Softscape is a real reminder, and every event and time block is a real calendar event. They are stored by Apple’s Reminders and Calendar apps on your device and synced by whichever accounts you have set up there (iCloud, Google, Exchange and so on), under those services’ own terms. Softscape reads and writes them with your permission and never copies them anywhere else.
- In your private iCloud. What Reminders cannot hold (which projects are sequential, task order, contexts, block links, calendar sets, hidden events, daily notes and review dates) is kept in a small store on your device. When Settings ▸ iCloud is on, that store syncs across your own devices through Apple’s CloudKit private database, and a few small preferences (the order of your views and the start date of your trial) travel through iCloud key-value storage. All of it sits in your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy. The developer cannot access it.
- On your device, for the widgets and the Watch. Softscape writes a snapshot of today’s tasks to a private container on your device so its widgets can draw it, and sends the same snapshot to the Watch app over Apple’s device-to-device connection. It goes nowhere else.
Specific permissions
- Reminders. Required. Softscape is a Reminders client: it reads your lists and reminders to show them as projects and tasks, and writes back the changes you make.
- Calendars. Required for the calendar views and for time blocking. Softscape reads your calendars to show them beside your tasks, and creates and edits events, including the blocks it keeps on its own Time Blocks calendar.
- Location. Optional, and off until you turn it on. When Settings ▸ Weather is set to your current location, your device sends its location to Apple’s Weather service to fetch the forecast shown on the calendar. If you choose a place by name instead, the name is looked up with Apple Maps and the forecast fetched for that place. Location is never stored by Softscape and never sent to the developer. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather.
- Notifications. Optional. Softscape schedules local notifications on your device for upcoming task and event alarms, and can show a badge with today’s count. Nothing is sent through a server.
Siri, Shortcuts and Apple Intelligence
Softscape’s Siri and Shortcuts actions run on your device. When you capture a task by typing a sentence, Softscape parses it on the device and, on devices with Apple Intelligence, may ask Apple’s on-device language model to help; your text does not leave the device for that. Anything you say to Siri is handled by Apple under Apple’s Siri privacy policy.
Purchases
The Softscape unlock is an optional one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the transaction; the developer never receives your payment details. Purchase records are managed by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy.
Children’s privacy
Softscape is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
